CRB Checks

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what the average waiting time was for a police check to be completed through the Criminal Records Bureau in the last period for which figures are available. (109592)

The Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) operates to a published service standard (PSS) to issue 90 per cent. of Standard Disclosures within 10 days and 90 per cent. of Enhanced Disclosures within 28 days. For October 2006, the CRB issued 99.8 per cent. of Standard Disclosures and 86.7 per cent. of Enhanced Disclosures within PSS.

Enhanced Disclosures require an additional level of check against local police intelligence databases. This work is conducted internally by each individual police force and the CRB publishes police force performance on its website at:
