Corporal Punishment

Volume 455: debated on Wednesday 10 January 2007

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will bring forward proposals for legislation to abolish all forms of corporal punishment of children. (109478)

Children are already protected against intentional harm, whether physical or psychological, by the general law of assault. Corporal punishment in schools is already illegal.
