Alcohol Strategy

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if she will provide funding for the alcohol strategy to match that for the drugs strategy. (110164)

It is for primary care trusts (PCTs) to determine how much of their budget they spend on alcohol services locally in accordance with the needs of the local population.

PCTs are currently spending £217 million on alcohol treatment. A further £15 million has been allocated to PCTs in 2007-08 to improve alcohol interventions further.
