To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether Aegis Security Services has been invited by her Department to tender for Government security service contracts in (a) Afghanistan, (b) Iraq and (c) elsewhere. (114974)

In 2006, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office issued open advertisements seeking expressions of interest in contracts to provide static and mobile security services in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Aegis Defence Services Ltd. was one of a number of companies that expressed an interest in these contracts and their expressions met the required criteria for them to be invited to tender. Their tenders were not however successful.
