To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs if he will take steps to ensure that sales of energy-saving light bulbs are not reduced by the exemption from the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment directive of traditional incandescent bulbs. (113717)

We do not anticipate that the introduction of the WEEE regulations will have a negative impact on the sales of energy efficient light bulbs. Ultimately however it will be for the lamp industry to ensure that they remain priced at a level which does not adversely affect sales.
