NHS Redundancies

To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many chief executives of (a) regional health authorities and (b) strategic health authorities renewed cars provided by their employers within two years before being made redundant since 1996; what the cost to the public purse was of providing such cars; how many such cars were purchased by employees when they were made redundant; and how much revenue was received as a result of those purchases. This information is not held centrally by the Department. This is a matter for the individuals and their respective employers.

To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many chief executives of (a) regional health authorities and (b) strategic health authorities were given pay rises within two years before being made redundant since 1996; and what average percentage increase was awarded in such cases. (115124)

National health service organisations are public bodies and as such, the pay of their senior executive teams is a matter of public record, published in their annual accounts.

The Department advises NHS organisations on the maximum level of annual pay uplifts for NHS senior managers.
