NHS Treatment: Foreign Nationals

To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many foreign nationals were treated at hospitals in England in each year since 2001, broken down by strategic health authority. (111377)

[holding answer 26 January 2007]: It is not possible to provide the information requested. Successive Governments have not required the national health service to provide statistics on the number of foreign nationals seen, treated or charged under the provisions of the “NHS (Charges to Overseas Visitors) Regulations 1989”, as amended.
