The previous Home Secretary (Charles Clarke) did not give a speech on 4 January 2006. However, the current Home Secretary gave a political speech at Dunraven school, Streatham SW16 on 4 January 2007. The event was organised by the Labour Party. No permanent civil servants were involved in the organisation of the event.
