Police: Cumbria

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many police officers there were in Cumbria Constabulary in each year since 1997; and what the projected figures are for 2007 and 2008. (124008)

The available data for 1997 to 2006 are given in the following table.

With regard to future strength it is a matter for the chief constable, in consultation with the police authority, to determine the number of police officers and police support staff employed by the force.
