To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many prosecutions were carried out following assaults on serving police officers in each of the last three years. (124280)

[holding answer 5 March 2007]: Data from the court proceedings database held by the Office for Criminal Justice Reform on the number of people proceeded against at magistrates courts for the offence of assaulting a constable in England and Wales, 2003 to 2005, is shown in the following table.
