Community Hospitals: Finance

Volume 458: debated on Monday 12 March 2007

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what criteria govern primary care trusts' applications to access the funds allocated for community hospital refurbishment; and if she will make a statement. (120949)

Strategic health authorities have been asked to submit only schemes that fit with their strategic priorities, meet local need and demonstrate value for money. Individual schemes are expected to meet the design principles set out in “Our Health our care, our community—investing in the future of community hospitals and services”. The role for the Department is to validate that these criteria have been met and to reassure itself that the schemes deliver the objectives set out in “Our health, our care, our community—Investing in the future of community hospitals and services”.
