Executive Agencies

To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs pursuant to the answer of 24 October 2006, Official Report, column 1723W, on executive agencies, what the net change was in the (a) value and (b) percentage of (i) resource and (ii) capital budget levels for each of his Department's executive agencies from 2005-06 to 2006-07 in (1) cash terms and (2) real terms; and if he will make a statement. Of the Department’s nine executive agencies, five (Centre for Environment Fisheries and Aquaculture Science, Central Science Laboratory, Pesticides Safety Directorate, Veterinary Laboratories Agency and Veterinary Medicines Directorate) are net controlled agencies and recover their full economic costs through charges to their customers which include both DEFRA and non-DEFRA clients.

Details of the net changes to budgets of the four gross controlled agencies are given in the following table.
