To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Skills what percentage of those working as primary school teachers in England are (a) female and (b) male. (125864)

In March 2005 16 per cent. of full-time regular qualified teachers employed in maintained nursery and primary schools were male and 84 per cent. were female. These figures are provisional and the latest information available.
