Custodial Treatment: Young Offenders

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many under-18 year olds are serving sentences of less than three months; and how many were given sentences of less than three months in each quarter of the last two years. (127876)

Following the introduction of the detention and training order nationally on 1 April 2000 under the Crime and Disorder Act 1998, the minimum custodial sentence length for persons under 18 has been four months.
