Volume 458: debated on Wednesday 28 March 2007

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department who is responsible for procurement of counter nuclear, biological and chemical protection and detection equipment in his Department. (129167)

The end to end procurement process for any product involves a number of stages and a number of different units within the Home Office and is carried out in accordance with the relevant legislation and Government procurement guidance. Where, following this process, equipment is centrally procured by the Home Office for use in chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear (CBRN) incidents, such procurement is managed by the Office of Government Commerce (OGC) on behalf of the Counter-Terrorism and Intelligence Directorate of the Home Office.
