Volume 458: debated on Thursday 29 March 2007

To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many cases of human toxocariasis there were in England in each year since 1997-98, broken down by primary care trust area. (127827)

Toxocara is not a notifiable disease in England and Wales, therefore the numbers of cases per year is taken from confirmed diagnostic laboratory reports. The Health Protection Agency received 19 laboratory reports in 1998 and fewer than 10 reports in each of the years since then. The breakdown of data by primary care trust area is not collected.
