To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Skills what the evidential basis was for the statement in the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority's 2006 Annual Review that there is a broad consensus on the purposes, values and aims for the curriculum. (130269)

The statement in the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority's Annual Review was based on an extensive informal consultation on the purposes, values and aims for the curriculum with a wide variety of groups. This included some 45,000 teachers and headteachers; 1,000 professionals from local authorities; 2,000 pupils and around 3,000 other stakeholders.
