Volume 459: debated on Tuesday 17 April 2007

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Skills (1) how much funding has been made available by his Department for the promotion of the Learning Outside the Classroom Manifesto; (130208)

(2) what proportion of pupils studying science GCSEs have undertaken investigative fieldwork outside the classroom.

Between 2006-08, the Department will make available £2.7 million to support the delivery of the aims of the Learning Outside the Classroom Manifesto. Other funding streams support a range of opportunities, for example, the joint DCMS/DFES Museums and Galleries and the London Challenge New Views programmes. Schools also use their own budgets to provide these experiences for their pupils. The Department does not collect information about the proportion of students undertaking investigative fieldwork outside the classroom.
