Volume 459: debated on Friday 20 April 2007

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer on what basis central government funding is allocated to Scotland; whether he plans to review the funding formula; and what the allocation per head of population was in (a) England, (b) Scotland and (c) Wales in 2006. (132805)

The basis for central Government funding of the devolved Administrations is set out in the Statement of Funding Policy published by the Treasury in July 2004. The Government have no plans to review the Barnett formula. Identifiable spending per head in England, Scotland and Wales in 2005-06 is £6,762, £8,265 and £7,666 respectively; these figures include both devolved and reserved spending and are published in Public Expenditure Statistical Analyses (Cm 6811).
