To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions pursuant to the answer of 26 March 2007, Official Report, column 1180W, on housing benefit, what amendments were made to his proposed changes to the housing benefit subsidy arrangements for homeless households following his Department’s meetings with the local authority associations in August, November and December 2006 and January 2007. The changes were a short-term measure to address the very large increase in expenditure on temporary accommodation and longer term proposals to change the funding scheme for temporary accommodation in the future. No amendments were made to the changes after meeting with Local Authority Associations.
