To ask the Secretary of State for Health how much was spent per head by the NHS on care and treatment for (a) all people, (b) children, (c) young people, (d) those aged 65 years and over and (e) those aged 80 years and over in the most recent period for which figures are available. (134112)

The following table shows hospital and community health services (HCHS) expenditure per head of population in 2003-04. The table shows the available age group breakdown, which differs from that requested.
