I wish to present a petition, the lead signatory of which is Chris Williamson, the leader of Derby city council.
The petition states:
The Petition of the City of Derby declares that the proposal by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs to close its two Derby offices will have an unfavourable effect on both employees of the organisation and the city’s economy as a whole.
This decision will mean the loss of 400 jobs in Derby, will result in a downturn in our economy, and will have a detrimental effect on the environment.
The Petitioners therefore request that the House urge the Secretary of State for the Treasury to withdraw her proposal.
And the Petitioners remain, etc.
To lie upon the Table.
