To ask the Minister of State, Ministry of Justice what the cost was to HM Prison Service in each of the last four years for (a) compensating staff sacked unfairly, (b) compensating staff constructively dismissed and (c) paying the total legal costs of these dismissals; and if she will make a statement. The Prison Service does not summarise the costs in this way and would need to review individual files which could be done only at a disproportionate cost. The total amount of compensation paid to staff, including legal costs in each of the last four years was:
