Officials statistics on the operation of sunbed salons are collected by the Office for National Statistics as part of Standard Industrial Classification 93.04 (physical well being activities). In 2005 there were 915 enterprises under this classification with a total turnover of £309 million adding under 0.02 per cent. to UK gross value added.
