To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many intrusive surveillance warrants were issued in each of the last five years. (141785)

[holding answer 11 June 2007]: The number of authorisations granted, under section 32 of the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000, for the carrying out of intrusive surveillance is included in the Annual Report of the Chief Surveillance Commissioner to the Prime Minister and to Scottish Ministers which is laid before each House of Parliament and published. For the last five reports, the numbers have been:
