As announced on 14 June 2007, the estimated set-up costs for establishing a Supreme Court are £56.9 million. The building work will cost £36.7 million, which will be paid for by an annual lease charge of £2.1 million over 30 years. Both these amounts are within original estimates. The additional £20.2 million covers professional adviser fees, programme team costs, furniture, IT services and library costs. Of that £20.2 million, £2.6 million is design costs associated with the renovation of the UK Supreme Court.
The set-up costs of the Supreme Court will be met through the Ministry's allocated budget.
