To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what estimate the Government have made of the proportion of landfill tax which is paid by local authorities and their contractors. (143667)

Reliable estimates are not available for the proportion of landfill tax revenue from local authorities and their contractors. Registered landfill site operators pay the tax to HMRC and information on the source of the waste and the customer is not recorded on the landfill tax return.
