The accompanying tables show the number of persons recorded as leaving detention solely under Immigration Act powers in order to be removed from the UK in 2005 and in each of the first three quarters of 2006.
Data on the total number of persons against whom removal proceedings were commenced are not available; they could be obtained through examination of individual records only at disproportionate cost.
