Income Tax: Pensioners

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many and what percentage of (a) all pensioners and (b) pensioner households pay income tax. (155283)

The information is as follows.

Individual pensioners 2007-081

The following figures are the latest available estimates and are based on the Survey of Personal Incomes 2004-05 and projected forward to 2007-08 in line with Budget 2007 assumptions.
