Carbon Emissions: Televisions

Volume 464: debated on Monday 8 October 2007

To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs what estimate he has made of the (a) cost of and (b) volume of carbon dioxide emissions produced by the energy consumption of televisions in use in the UK which possess a screen blanking feature. (153967)

No information is available about the number of televisions in use in the UK which have a screen blanking facility (which allows the selected channel to be received in audio only). Therefore, it is not possible to make an estimate of the cost or volume of carbon dioxide emissions resulting from use of these appliances.
