Smoking: Public Houses

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what estimate he has made of the change in revenues of public houses in England since the introduction of the ban on smoking in public places; and if he will make a statement. (156172)

While it is still too early to make any definitive statement about the economic impact of the law which came into operation on 1 July 2007 in England, based on our regulatory impact assessment (RIA) we are not expecting a significant positive or negative impact on the industry.
