Carers’ Allowances

Volume 464: debated on Wednesday 10 October 2007

To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions if he will extend eligibility to carer's allowance to allow a carer to receive carer's allowance in respect of more than one individual in the same household. (153756)

Carer's allowance is intended principally to provide a measure of financial support for carers who cannot work full-time because they provide at least 35 hours of care a week for a severely disabled person. It is not payable in respect of each disabled person a carer may look after and we have no plans to change these arrangements.
