Egypt: Religious Freedom

Volume 464: debated on Monday 15 October 2007

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what representations he has made to the Egyptian Government in relation to the protection of Eman Muhammad el-Sayed. (157261)

Eman Muhammed el-Sayed is a 26-year-old Egyptian woman, who converted from Islam to Christianity. We understand that she was arrested by the Egyptian police in July 2007 but released shortly afterwards.

We are aware of the case, but have seen nothing to suggest that Eman is currently in danger and are therefore not planning any representations at this stage.
