Metropolitan Police: Emergency Calls

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) if she will make a statement on the performance of the Metropolitan police emergency call system; (155640)

(2) what assessment she has made of the performance of the Metropolitan police emergency call system on 20 July 2007;

In 2005-06, Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary undertook a baseline inspection of emergency and non-emergency contact management systems for the police forces of England and Wales. Under this review, the Metropolitan police performance was classified as ‘Fair’. There has not been a similar or specific assessment of the performance of the Metropolitan police's emergency and non-emergency contact management system for 21 July 2005 nor for 20 July 2007.
