10. To ask the Secretary of State for Health what assessment he has made of the current level of access to NHS dentistry. (162939)

The most recent access data are for the two-year period ending in March 2007. These data show that around 28 million people accessed NHS dental services at least once during this period. This is the same as the number who accessed services in the two years ending March 2006. We are committed to widening access to NHS dentistry, and will look to Primary Care Trusts to do this as part of their role as commissioners of health services.
