Drugs: Custodial Treatment

Volume 467: debated on Thursday 22 November 2007

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what proportion of those convicted for supplying illegal drugs in Northern Ireland were given a custodial sentence in each of the last 10 years. (164393)

The following table gives the number convicted of supplying illegal drugs and the number and percentage of those convicted who were sentenced to immediate custody.

Data cover the calendar years 1996 to 2005 (the latest available years) and are collated on the principal offence rule; therefore only the most serious offence with which an offender is charged is included.
