To ask the Secretary of State for International Development how much his Department spent on staff working on (a) marketing and (b) branding in the last 12-month period for which figures are available. (167302)

The last 12-month period for which figures are available is October 2006 to October 2007. Between October 2006 and April 2007 the Publicity and Marketing Unit was part of the Building Support for Development team. Figures for this period cannot be disaggregated.

Between April 2007 and October 2007 staff costs for the campaigns and marketing team were £218,756, which includes costs for overtime, travelling time and pension and national insurance contributions.
