To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many investigations resulted in the police taking no further action in (a) England and Wales and (b) each police force area in each of the last three years; and if she will make a statement. (167100)

The information requested is not collected centrally. The Home Office collects information on the number of offences recorded and detected by the police but no information is held on the actual number of investigations undertaken by the police.
