National Food Security

16. To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs if he will make a statement on Government policy on national food security. (171746)

Food security is about ensuring consumers have access to a stable and adequate supply of food. This requires effective risk management, security of our energy supplies, access to food from a variety of sources, a strong food chain and infrastructure and the capacity and contingency planning to deal with specific risks to our food supply.
