To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what regulation applies to the placing of (a) a European 12 star flag and (b) a UK union flag on vehicle number plates above the initials GB. (171120)

The Road Vehicles (Display of Registration Marks) Regulations 2001, prescribe the requirements to which number plates and registration marks must conform. Regulation 16 relates to the international distinguishing sign and other materials.
