To ask the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families how many schools have been placed in special measures more than once since 1997. (171033)

Between 1 September 1997 and 3 December 2007, 51 schools have been placed in special measures more than once following an inspection by Ofsted. This number represents 2.9 per cent. of the total number of schools placed in the special measures category during this period. 11 of the 51 schools have now closed.
