To ask the Secretary of State for Transport how many aeroplane flights occurred in which spent nuclear fuel was carried within UK airspace in each of the last 10 years; what the origin and destination was of each case; and what volume of fuel was carried in each case. (180659)

[holding answer 21 January 2008]: This Department holds information on one shipment of spent nuclear fuel by air within UK airspace in the last 10 years. This was a shipment in 1998 from Tbilisi, Georgia to Dounrey, Caithness containing approximately 4 kg of uranium.
