To ask the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families what assessment he has made of student attainment at the London Academy; and if he will make a statement. (177681)

In 2007, 54.6 per cent. of pupils at the London Academy achieved five or more passes at grades A-G in their GCSEs. This represents an increase of 3.7 percentage points over results for 2006—significantly higher than the national improvement rate of 2.6 percentage points.

When English and maths are included, 39.1 per cent. of pupils achieved five or more passes at grades A*-C—an increase of 7.1 percentage points over results for 2006—nearly four times the national improvement rate of 1.8 percentage points.
