All the available evidence on the health effects of living in proximity to landfill sites was assessed and summarised in the report published by my Department in 2004, “Review of the environmental and health effects of waste management”. The report was produced by Enviros and peer reviewed by the Royal Society and can be accessed on the DEFRA website.
