To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what estimate he has made of the cost of nationalising Northern Rock. (179803)

I refer the right hon. Gentleman to the statement made by the Chancellor of the Exchequer on 21 January 2008, Official Report, column 1207. The cost of taking Northern Rock into public ownership would depend on the approach taken.
