To ask the Secretary of State for International Development pursuant to the answer of 21 January 2008, Official Report, columns 1498-99W, on water supply, if he will formally recognise the contribution made by the late Thuli Khambule, South African co-ordinator for the Partners for Water and Sanitation, on the work undertaken on achieving the Millennium Development Goals. Thuli Khambule joined the Partners for Water and Sanitation (PAWS) in September 2003 and over the next few years directed much needed support to South African municipalities in their delivery of water and sanitation services, through PAWS and other programmes.

PAWS staff, partners and friends have paid tribute to her guidance, knowledge and dignity in making the South Africa programme a success. The continued work of the PAWS South Africa programme to help improve the lives of poor people will be a fitting tribute to Thuli Khambule.
