Health

Volume 472: debated on Wednesday 20 February 2008

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what key steps the Government plan to take on public health in the next three years. (183843)

The Government are taking forward and building on commitments to improve people’s health given in the White Paper “Choosing Health:making healthy choices easier” (2004). This includes developing and implementing key strategies on tackling obesity, smoking cessation, alcohol harm, and sexually transmitted infections. They are also addressing the poorest groups and communities through their programme to reduce health inequalities, which is a priority for the national health service and local government in 2008-09.
