Domestic Violence, Crime and Victims Act 2004

Volume 472: debated on Thursday 21 February 2008

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what plans she has to implement the remaining provisions of the Domestic Violence, Crime and Victims Act 2004; and if she will make a statement. (184763)

There are two unimplemented sections of the Domestic Violence Crime and Victims Act 2004:

Section 9—Statutory Domestic Homicide Reviews

Section 12—Enabling courts to impose restraining orders on those convicted of any offence, and also on those who are acquitted for any offence.

The Home Office is working closely with the Department for Communities and Local Government and the Ministry of Justice to agree the estimated impact on local services of implementing these provisions. We will be implementing these measures when resources allow.
