To ask the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families what steps he is taking to encourage the awareness of Key Stage 2 pupils of the world of work. (186119)

Over the next three years we plan to extend the range of enterprise education activity in primary schools, building on our success in secondary schools. In particular, we will encourage and support more secondary schools to work with feeder primary schools on enterprise projects, building on schools’ expertise.

We have appointed Sir Jim Rose to lead an independent root and branch review of the primary curriculum. He will make recommendations on all aspects of the primary curriculum by April 2009. The review of the primary curriculum will ensure that children receive a strong foundation in the key areas of learning and begin to develop and understand the essential skills they will need to progress in learning and the workplace.
