UN Convention on the Rights of the Child

Volume 472: debated on Thursday 21 February 2008

To ask the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families what recent discussions he has had with the Home Secretary on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child; and if he will make a statement. (187162)

No recent discussions have taken place between the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families and the Home Office about the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. However, officials in both Departments continue to work closely together, building on the positive progress already made in implementing the convention and preparing for the UK’s periodic oral examination by the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, which is due to take place in Geneva this autumn.
